The new Hebrew Museum and the Hebrew Learning Center and Gallery will be the Academy’s two largest endeavors focused on engaging and educating the broader community; they will draw upon the Academy’s historical, cultural, and linguistic assets and its vast knowledge base. The new, first-of-its-kind museum will present universal aspects of the Hebrew language; tell the unique story of the Hebrew language over its 3000-year history, including its amazing revival as a spoken language; and celebrate the vibrancy and vitality of modern Hebrew. The museum’s permanent exhibition will make use of state-of-the-art audio-visual and touch technology to offer visitors an exciting, multisensory educational experience.

Proposed activities of the Museum and Hebrew Learning Center and Gallery include museum visits, group tours, cultural events, continuing-education courses, and conferences. These experiences, which promise to attract school groups, educators, tourists, and the general public, will showcase the central role of Hebrew in daily life and in Jewish, Hebrew, and Israeli culture.
